Carimus Collaborates with The Root Therapy NYC On Natural Site Design

Carimus was thrilled to partner with Katherine Casey and the folks at The Root Therapy NYC on the creation of its gorgeous new website, just recently launched.

The Root Therapy is a holistic mental health treatment center that incorporates methods such as art therapy, somatic experiencing, family support, and traditional talk therapy. Located in the heart of New York City, The Root Therapy helps people “repair and strengthen the roots” of their foundations.

Designer Hannah Kinney created the agency’s logo and icon animations. Her goal was to capture the holistic nature of the organization, while at the same time using color and design techniques that promote a welcoming and approachable atmosphere.

“Not only is it an eye-catching, impressive design, but it includes a number of great visual and brand aspects that can be repurposed,” says Bryan Martin, co-founder and creative director of Carimus. “Hannah did a beautiful job of condensing a large amount of information into a concise, accessible package.”

In most website design projects, the objective is twofold: For one, you want a design that is visually appealing. But equally as important, you want a design that isn’t overwhelming and is easy for the typical person to navigate. Hannah created a design that is nature-inspired with neutral colors and themes – a subtle nod to The Root Therapy’s philosophy of nourishing the roots of one’s foundation. This palate, in addition to a collection of vibrant illustrations, lends a cool, earthy vibe to the website.

Katherine Casey founded The Root Therapy after working in Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and traditional addiction treatment. In her work experience, she saw firsthand the positive impact of holistic care, including arts therapies and community resources, and realized the value of using personal insight and experiences to help guide clients. She set out to create a practice based on these principles, and The Root Therapy was born. The practice stands out for both its holistic approach and its message of empowerment. The Root Therapy empowers clients to set their own goals, make their own decisions, and truly get what they want out of therapy.

“It was great to work with Kat and her team at The Root Therapy on both the logo and animations,” says Bryan. “The holistic nature of The Root presents somewhat of a challenge because there’s a whole lot of information to include. We wanted to make a site that can seem rather sprawling, seem a lot smaller and easier to traverse.”
